This is another classic, and it is supposed to be around us for 200 years now. One of the secrets of this drink is to prepare it in a rock glass, not in a shaker. Also, even if you can use a little syrup to prepare it, it lacks the texture that granulated sugar gives it.
It is a great cocktail for all whisky lovers that want to try something different without going to far away the rick, smoky flavor of whisky. Also easy to do at home since you would not need any fancy utensils to prepare it, and just needs the basic and main ingredient: Bourbon.
Here’s how to prepare it:
Ingredients
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon water
3 dashes of Angostura bitters (I use Intenso bitters myself)
2 ounces bourbon
Orange peel to garnish
Preparation
1.- Add the 1/2 teaspoon sugar and 3 dashes of bitters to a rocks glass and then add the 1 teaspoon of water. Stir until the suger is about to dissolve.
2.- Fill your glass with large ice cubes, add the 2 ounces bourbon and stir gently to mix it.
3.- Press the oil of an orange peel and drop the peel in the glass.
Voila! Salute!
